"Retailers in the US are already struggling to support, and the new tariff is to give them a nail on the coffin." Rick Helfenba, President of the Federation of clothing, footwear and footwear industries, said in an exclusive interview with Xinhua news agency.

Recently, the US side announced that it would levy tariffs on imports of goods from about two US dollars in 300 billion batches, and later announced that it would raise tariffs on Tariffs of about 550 billion US dollars on Chinese exports to the US.

"The tax rate for children's schoolbags is already 75%. Now it's the school season. Retailers and consumers have been seriously affected by the tariff war." In the interview, he offered anxiety, because after a few days, the tariff rate of daily consumption goods such as clothing, shoes and socks, handbags and so on imported from China will be raised again.

The Federation of clothing, footwear and footwear industries represents more than 1000 brands, retailers and manufacturers of related industries, with annual sales of up to US $400 billion.

According to the introduction, 41% of the clothing, 72% shoes and 84% of the accessories in the US market come from China. He said that the current tax burden on clothing and footwear in the United States has been as high as 51%. If new tariffs are added, retailers will be overburdened.

"The rise in tariffs leads to price increases, which in turn leads to a decline in sales and profits," he said. "If the profits of retailers are all taken away by tariffs, consumption and job opportunities will become unsustainable."

"Tariffs are invisible taxes charged by the US government to the public," he said. "These tariffs are not paid by China, but by American consumers."

Harbin said that the escalation of economic and trade frictions will have unpredictable and disastrous consequences, which will not only affect China, but will also damage the prospects of the US economy.

"Once all tariff measures are put into effect, we will be more miserable and our economy will begin to fall." He warned.
