Online sales are growing faster.

Although China is widely recognized as a luxury consumer, it is important to ignore that India is catching up. However, compared with China, infrastructure construction in India is lagging behind. There are no good roads, airports and high-rise buildings. There are no commercial boulevards in India's main cities and no high shopping centers. In addition, India has high tariffs on imports (such as tariffs on imported watches up to 50%), which are all factors that hinder the promotion of luxury brands.

Male becoming the main consumer

In addition, male power and Bollywood star effect are becoming the new driving force for India's luxury market. In September 2007, Time magazine published a global luxury survey. The survey points out that among the top five luxury brands in India, the top fourth are Rolex, while the top three are good at making India's traditional clothing, sari's clothing brand. The India government's protection policy and Indian's love for traditional culture make India's local brands popular.

Because women in India are still wearing sari and are not likely to wear western style clothing, the male consumers in India become the main consumer of luxury goods, which is the opposite of the situation in other countries. Jewelry, watches and accessories are among the largest luxury goods in India, and men's luxury brands are becoming more and more popular. Classic Menswear Brands such as Zegna and Canali gained the favor of India men aged 35 to 44, while India men aged 21 to 35 liked to wear Paul Smith, Kenzo and Etro.

Another big motivation for India consumers to buy luxury goods is to chase Bollywood stars. These consumers want to imitate the star's lifestyle and personal style, so that real life can be described in the movie.
