The southern India Textile Mills Association has applied to the state government to exempt the textile industry from the proposed increase in electricity charges.

When he expressed disappointment at the proposed increase in electricity charges, Mr. J Thulasidharan, chairman of the India textile factory Association, said that considering the huge employment plan, 45% of the actual power shortage and low utilization level, the state's textile industry should be free from the proposed increase in electricity charges and be consistent with Kerala.

The textile industry accounts for more than 70% of the state's installed wind turbine facilities.

However, due to the lack of sufficient wind power, the textile industry still suffers from a huge power shortage.

In this case, the increase in electricity tariffs will aggravate the burden of the textile industry and make the industry less competitive. Mr. J Thulasidharan said he explained the plight of the textile industry in communication with the government.

He once again pointed out that although TNERC's instructions to the State Electricity Authority do not increase the burden of consumers through cross subsidies, it did not take into account when adjusting the tariff.

The current increase in electricity charges will increase the price of the yarn by 2-3 rupees / kg.
