The reporter learned from the Department of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry of the Autonomous Region that Inner Mongolia focuses on solving the problems of the cashmere industry chain, such as the imperfect high-quality price mechanism, the insufficient international influence of the brand, and the low added value of products. Recently, the Work Plan for the High Quality Development of the Cashmere Industry in 2025 was issued to fully promote the transformation and upgrading of the cashmere industry in Inner Mongolia by promoting the advantages, repairing the shortcomings, and extending the chain.

The plan specifies seven key tasks, including ensuring the resource advantage of seed industry, strengthening the testing service capacity, supporting enterprise technological transformation, and tapping the potential of energy conservation and carbon reduction, to ensure that the number of cashmere goats on hand will be 15 million in 2025, the output of high-quality raw cashmere will be more than 7000 tons, the collection and storage of high-quality raw cashmere will be 500 tons, the notarial inspection volume will reach 95% of the output of the whole region, and the industrial foundation will be consolidated. At the same time, all regions and departments will cooperate with scientific research institutes, colleges and universities, and cashmere enterprises inside and outside the region to enrich the cashmere industry chain expert team, and rely on projects such as "unveiling" and "seed industry revitalization" to carry out scientific and technological innovation in new line selection, product research and development, process design, and provide scientific and technological support for industrial transformation and upgrading.

Inner Mongolia is the main production area of high-quality cashmere in China. The cashmere output ranks first in the country, and the output value of the whole industrial chain exceeds 18 billion yuan. In 2024, the number of cashmere goats raised in Inner Mongolia will reach 15.81 million, the cashmere output will reach 6944.6 tons, and cashmere products will account for 60% of the national market; The export of cashmere and its products earned 280 million US dollars, and the sales revenue of key processing enterprises reached 4.625 billion yuan.
