Brazil Reduced Cotton Production; Brazil; Cotton

In recent months, due to the serious shortage of soil moisture in the main production areas and the nearly 100 year drought record, Brazilian industry analysts reduced cotton production.

Experts said that as the drought spread westward to Mato Grosso, Brazil's main production areas are not expected to have enough rainfall before September this year, and Brazil's cotton production may not meet the expectations. This year, Mato Grosso has been short of rainfall, which accounts for two-thirds of Brazil's cotton production, so the current drought is particularly noteworthy.

According to the prediction of conab, the cotton planting area in Brazil will be 13.669 million hectares in 2020 / 2021, with a year-on-year decrease of 17.9%, the average yield of 1713 kg / ha, a year-on-year decrease of 4.94%, and the output is expected to be 2.342 million tons, with a year-on-year decrease of 21.97%.
