China And Singapore Actively Promote The Follow-Up Negotiations On The Upgrading Of FTA

Recently, China and Singapore held the second round of follow-up negotiations on the upgrading of the FTA through a video conference. In this round of consultations, the two sides continued to carry out in-depth discussions on the rules in cross-border service trade, investment, telecommunications and other fields, and made positive progress. In addition, the two sides agreed to carry out market access negotiations on negative lists of trade in services and investment from the next round of negotiations.

The China Singapore FTA upgrade protocol will be implemented in October 2019. According to the provisions of the upgrading protocol, the two sides announced to start the follow-up negotiations on upgrading in December 2020, committed to carrying out negotiations on trade in services and investment liberalization in the form of a negative list, so as to further enhance the level of bilateral trade and investment liberalization and facilitation.
