Fast hand and tremolo have successively revealed the listing plan, which also makes the hot short video track continue to heat up. Now they may launch a new competition for the title of "short video first stock".

Industry "black horse"

Compared with the 9-year-old fast hand, the first version of tremolo was launched in September 2016. But as a latecomer, tremolo has shown a "rocket like" growth rate in the past four years.

The daily life of tremolo is 30 million in January 2018, 70 million in February 2018, 150 million in June 2018, 200 million in November 2018, 250 million in January 2019, 320 million in July 2019 and 400 million in January 2020. In September this year, the latest data disclosed by tremolo showed that by August 2020, the daily active users of tremolo, including its volcanic version, had exceeded 600 million.

Correspondingly, the daily life of express was about 100 million at the beginning of 2018; it reached 130 million in October 2018 and 160 million at the end of 2018; exceeded 200 million in May 2019; and 300 million in early 2020.

Compared with tremolo, fast hand is not "fast". In mid-2018, Shuo Yin has surpassed fast hand. For the two products, analysts of Dongfang Securities pointed out that the biggest commonality of the two products lies in the convenience of the media (short video with low production and threshold) and the advanced algorithm (relying on decentralized algorithm for content distribution). This is also one of the core reasons why they have become the fastest growing Internet products in recent two years.

However, tremolo and fast hand are also different. "Their core differences come from the different values at the bottom. One focuses on beauty and the other emphasizes real and inclusive." Analysts at Orient Securities said.

For the difference between tremolo and fast hand, we can not simply judge which is better, but from the perspective of growth rate, the tremolo mode is indeed more dominant. Therefore, from the perspective of fasthand, its adjustment ideas for the whole product are more and more like tremolo. For example, from the beginning of no operation on the content, it now focuses on the same operation as tremolo. In addition, fasthand also starts to open public domain traffic on the basis of private domain traffic.

In September this year, fasthand has also made the largest scale upgrade since it transformed from GIF tool to short video community in 2014. The most significant change of the product is that on the basis of the three tabs of "focus, discover, and same city" on the home page, the bottom navigation bar and "select" tab are added to support the sliding experience of single column.

A person in charge of the commercialization of express told the 21st century economic report that before September 3, express had not distributed public domain traffic. This part of the traffic was very large, and there was a lot of demand from brand customers. In fact, the so-called private domain traffic and public domain traffic are most directly reflected in the realization mode. Tremolo is more suitable for the realization of advertising traffic, while fast hand is more suitable for the realization of talent. According to statistics, in 2019, more than 70% of the revenue of byte skipping comes from advertising, while 70% of the revenue of express comes from live broadcast and reward + goods delivery.

This also makes tremolo stronger in terms of revenue capability than fast hand. According to Tencent News, Twitter's advertising revenue target is more than 90 billion yuan this year, while fast hand's target is 40 billion yuan this year. However, some industry insiders told reporters that with the two products gradually approaching each other, they will be more and more similar in terms of products and algorithms, which also means that the coincidence degree of both sides will be higher and higher.

Some research data show that in the first half of 2020, the user coincidence rate of both sides has reached 40%. Whether it is listed or not, the competition between the two products will become more and more fierce.

Shaking sound breakthrough

As for the listing of byte skipping, at the end of 2019, Zhu Wenjia, the leader of today's headlines, revealed in an interview with a reporter that "Zhang Yiming thinks that listing is a big thing. We should delay the sense of satisfaction and wait a little longer.".

Perhaps in Zhang Yiming's plan, the volume of byte skipping is much larger than it is now. Earlier this year, the value of byte skipping in the private stock market soared to $140 billion. However, in 2020, tiktok will encounter a series of twists and turns overseas, which will make byte beat global process suffer a heavy setback.

There are byte hopping investors revealed that byte hopping plans to focus more on the growth of the Chinese market. The way is to expand new areas and try to develop a new hot app.

Among many businesses, tremolo has carried the banner of byte skipping in terms of user scale and revenue. Previous data showed that the revenue of byte skipping in China in 2019 was about 16 billion US dollars, of which, tremolo accounted for more than half. Today, the overseas business of byte skipping is blocked, and the development pressure of its domestic business will become greater, and the first independent listing of tremolo may alleviate this pressure.
