The First Round Of Negotiations On China Kampuchea FTA Held In Beijing

On the 20-21 day of January 2020, the first round of negotiations on China Kampuchea FTA was held in Beijing. Ren Hongbin, Assistant Minister of Commerce and Secretary of state of the Ministry of Commerce of Kampuchea, Sao Sao Phu, attended the opening ceremony and announced the launching of the China Kampuchea FTA negotiations.

During the two day meeting, the two sides launched substantive negotiations on trade in goods, rules of origin, customs procedures and trade facilitation, technical barriers to trade, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, investment cooperation, trade in services, transparency, economic and technological cooperation, cooperation in the "one belt" initiative, e-commerce and related legal matters.

According to the consensus reached by the leaders of China and Cambodia, the two sides completed the joint feasibility study on FTA negotiations at the end of 2019. The conclusion of joint feasibility study is positive, and it is suggested that negotiations should be initiated. The signing of the Sino - Cambodian FTA is a concrete measure to deepen bilateral economic and trade ties, develop bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership and promote the establishment of Sino Cambodian fate community, which reflects the traditional friendship and profound friendship between China and Cambodia.
