As of May 17th, there were still 22 solid waste stockpile problems not completed (3 of which were inspecting the environmental department), and the provincial environmental protection department is now supervising 19 other outstanding issues, urging the local deadline for rectification.

Water pollution discharge limits

In May 18th, the Jiangsu provincial Environmental Protection Office issued the local standard "discharge limits of major pollutants in urban sewage treatment plants and key industrial sectors in Taihu".

The standard is applicable to the discharge management of four main water pollutants, such as chemical oxygen demand, ammonia nitrogen, total nitrogen and total phosphorus, in Taihu, Suzhou, Wuxi, Changzhou, Nanjing, Lishui, Gaochun, Zhenjiang, Danyang, Jurong, and Jurong areas, including the chemical oxygen demand, ammonia nitrogen, total nitrogen and total phosphorus, as well as the environmental impact assessment of construction projects, the design of environmental protection facilities for construction projects, the completion acceptance and the discharge management after commissioning.

The standard has been implemented since June 1, 2018.
