New Mandatory Standards For Baby Clothing Have Increased 6 Requirements.

When the children's Day arrived this year, China first targeted infants and children.

Product standard GB31701-2015 "infant and child textile product safety technical specification" officially implemented, the standard has increased 6 kinds of plasticizers and lead and cadmium two kinds of heavy metal limit requirements.

Textile products for infants and children refer to textile products worn or used by infants aged 36 months or less, and textile products worn or used by children aged 3 to 14 years.

Children's textile products are also divided into two age groups: 3 to 7 years and 7 to 14 years old.

It is reported that the textile products involved in the "specification" include

Cloth plush toys, cloth arts and crafts, disposable sanitary products, bags, back bags, umbrellas, professional sportswear and so on do not fall within the scope of this standard.

The specification limits the plasticizer and heavy metal content, and adds 6 kinds of plasticizers and limit requirements for 2 kinds of heavy metals, including lead and cadmium. The total lead content is not more than 90mg/kg, and the total cadmium content is not more than 100mg/kg.

In addition, the strength and sharpness requirements of accessories are also specified. In order to prevent small attachments such as buttons on clothes from being inhaled into the nostrils or into the mouth by infants, the new national standard clearly suggests that the accessories with a dimension smaller than 3 mm should not be used for infant textile products, and the corresponding tensile strength requirements should be achieved.

At the same time, there should be no sharp sharp edges and sharp edges for attachments to infants and children's textile products.

The standard has set up a pitional period of two years. From June 1, 2018, all relevant products on the market will meet the requirements of this standard.
