The Israeli Business Community Demands That The Government Impose Punitive Tariffs On Chinese Footwear Products.
According to the Israel globe, the Israeli business community has recently appealed to the government to impose punitive tariffs on Chinese footwear products.
The global newspaper quoted Banel, chairman of the Israel Manufacturers Association footwear branch, as saying that cheap Chinese footwear products poured into the Israeli market and had a serious impact on the footwear industry. In the past 10 years, 140 shoe factories in Israel have closed down and 2170 people have lost their jobs.
He suggested that the government should refer to the European practice to impose tariffs of up to 16.5% on China's footwear products.
