Reporter Yu Yingbo textile industry sewage discharge volume is big, water efficiency is low; a large number of textile enterprises exceed the standard violation, some of them are some well-known clothing brand suppliers. An investigation report from environmental protection organizations revealed the above problems.

In April 9th, friends of nature, the public environmental research center, Dahl asked, environmental protection technology, Nanjing green stone and other 5 environmental protection organizations jointly issued a research report on "cleaning for fashion - green choice textile brand supply chain pollution". The report points out that serious environmental violations in the supply chain of a large number of textile brands and garment retailers have seriously affected China's water environment.

According to Ma Jun, director of the public environmental research center, the survey found that China's textile industry has a large amount of sewage and inefficient water use. Printing and dyeing wastewater accounted for 80% of the total textile wastewater discharge, while the total dyeing and finishing wastewater in 5 provinces of Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shandong, Guangdong and Fujian accounted for 90% of the total dyeing and finishing wastewater. At present, there are more than 6000 textile enterprises in China's pollution map database, some of which are privately built underground pipes, sewage straight rows, and abnormal sewage treatment facilities. Exceeding standard The total amount of pollutants discharged is punished or not dealt with within a specified period. In these enterprises, there are many suppliers of large international and domestic brands.

It is alleged that after initial investigation of the supply relationship between the textile products manufacturers and the well-known brands, the environmental protection organizations sent letters to CEO of 48 Enterprises on March 22, 2012, 26 and 29, asking them to give notes on environmental violations in the supply chain, and to respond to specific problems mentioned in the environmental protection organization's letter. But in response to a few brands, up to now, 32 have not responded. These include Marks&Spencer, Esprit, Calvin Klein, Armani, Carrefour And other international brands, including 360 degrees, Anta, YOUNGOR and other domestic well-known brands.

(headquartered in Hongkong), Dongguan Sha Tin Li Hai textile printing and dyeing Co., Ltd. (Futian Industrial Group subsidiary company) and Nanjing Zhongtian Yuan Teng Garments Co., Ltd.

The report argues that inadequate regulatory resources and weak enforcement by local protection make textile factories lack the power to comply with these norms. Even if law enforcement is in place, it is often difficult to stop duplication of illegal activities in factories.

The report suggests that relevant government departments should strengthen. supervise We should expand information disclosure and guide enterprises to save energy and reduce consumption by means of marketization. Specifically, it includes: it is suggested to strengthen the environmental supervision of textile enterprises, enforce laws strictly and enforce laws strictly, urge them to strictly implement emission standards and all kinds of regulations; suggest further expanding environmental information disclosure, comprehensively, timely and completely release environmental supervision records of textile enterprises to the society, and at the same time promote enterprises to publish data on their emissions and consumption of resources, so as to enhance public supervision of enterprises; and suggest using environmental economic policy tools such as price leverage, green credit, green securities and green foreign trade to guide enterprises to prevent energy saving and consumption reduction.
