With the improvement of people's living standard, the speed of people buying new clothes and abandoning old clothes is accelerating.

According to statistics, the amount of old garments produced in Shanghai is as high as 130 thousand tons a year.

These old clothes have two outlets: seven or eight of the new second-hand clothes are donated to the disaster areas or poor areas through civil affairs or official charitable channels; the remaining part is regarded as a new form.

Clothing is mainly made of cotton yarn and various kinds of chemical fiber fabrics. Recycling old clothes can save a lot of energy and reduce carbon emissions.

A set of old clothes recycling mechanism has been set up in foreign and Hong Kong and Taiwan regions.

Efforts are being made to promote the development of sustainable clothing (green clothing).

Sustainable clothing is made from different organic and natural fibers and sustainable crops, which are partly processed from old clothes.

Liao Zhihao, a member of the CPPCC National Committee, suggested that he should draw lessons from foreign experience and take the lead of the government, participate in social and non-governmental organizations, and recover and dispose of old clothes in conjunction with relevant professional enterprises.

He suggested that some private clothing could be re established through special channels.
