Italy Intends To Revise The Regulations On The Sale Of Textiles, Leather And Footwear Products

Textile Leather Footwear

In November 15, 2010, Italy issued a circular. The Ministry of economic development of Italy is going to revise the regulations on the sale of textiles, leather goods and footwear.


The decree contains 4 articles:


- the first section details the intention and purpose.

Information that must be included in the specification documents provided by the finished and semi-finished products (providing each stage of manufacture and observing the applicable national and international standards).


- second provides for the use of the "made in Italy" logo in the industry within the scope of the law.

The same requirement also provides for the final substantive pformation of such products to be carried out in Italy in order to use the "made in Italy" logo.


- third provides that if the manufacturer has clearly documented the completion of the documents at each stage, and there is not enough evidence to prove that a certain stage should be presumed to be completed abroad, the tracking in the manufacturing stage should be considered as a witness.


- fourth designated chambers of Commerce, trades, handicrafts and agricultural associations (CCIAA) are allowed to enter.

The correct labeling of products and the duty to perform inspections on the use of "made in Italy" signs; in accordance with Law No. fifty-fifth of 2010, it designated manual handicrafts and agricultural associations as agencies responsible for issuing administrative fines and suspending manufacturing activities of repeated violations; the article stated that without prejudice to its provisions, the inspection specified does not exclude all monitoring and management normally carried out by the administrative police or customs inspection.
