National Costume

Road to reform

Once recognized by the world as China's "national costume".

After the revolution of 1911, Sun Zhongshan designed the Chinese tunic suit in 1911.

In 1929, the national government set the tunic as a dress, and the dress Ordinance promulgated in the same year chose Qipao as "national costume".

Although the Chinese tunic suit was not clearly designated as the national costume after the founding of the PRC, the leaders of the party and the state took the lead in the Chinese tunic suit for quite a long time. Most of the civil servants also used it as a uniform.

Until now, in many important international occasions, many celebrities are still accustomed to choosing Zhongshan dress.

According to members of the committee, Mr. Sun Zhongshan designed the Zhongshan suit under the extremely difficult conditions at that time, mainly focusing on political considerations, slightly humble, and unable to fully display the unique Oriental aesthetic charm of the Chinese nation. Therefore, Li Yansheng could not shoulder the heavy responsibility of the new era of national costume.

And the West has been "the sexiest clothing in the world".

The "work uniform", which has been reduced to entertainment, is hard to be recognized by the Chinese again.

Members of the Li Yansheng Committee suggested that over the past 30 years of reform and opening up, China's foreign exchanges have been unprecedentedly frequent, and the importance of national services has become increasingly prominent.

At the APEC summit held in Shanghai in 2001, leaders dressed in "Chinese style Tang costume".

This makes Tang costume popular among Chinese at home and abroad.

However, because the design of the new Tang costume is not ideal, though gorgeous, it is not dignified and vulgar.

Soon after it became popular, it soon faded away from people's horizons.

In March 17, 2006, the international fashion forum of Shanghai International Fashion Culture Festival invited the experts from home and abroad to find the answer for the Chinese costume with the theme of "harmony, fashion and national costume".

In recent years, many NPC deputies, CPPCC members and experts and scholars have made proposals to require the state to formally establish the national service.

In view of this, Li Yansheng proposed to design "Chinese clothing" as a proposal for national costume.
