Cooperation

European Union Customs Commissioner Smeta said the EU will soon require China to take concrete measures to fight counterfeit products further.

The EU claims that a serious counterfeit product will "destroy the bilateral relations between the EU and China".

According to the French radio international radio reported on September 4th, Smeta, who is visiting Shanghai, said that the EU and China, on the whole, have created a good working foundation for fighting against counterfeiting, but the measures taken are not enough.

Smeta pointed out that she will present the annual report of EU customs to China in 2009 and discuss it on the basis of this report.

According to the report, last year, the EU Customs seized 118 million counterfeit products, of which 64% came from China.

EU customs officials worry that counterfeit products from China are increasing.

The EU and China have strengthened this aspect.

cooperation

A new mechanism is established for customs inspection on both sides, but the EU believes that this is not enough. The cooperation between the two sides can be better, and it is necessary to add new anti blocking measures.

According to Agence France-Presse reports, most of the counterfeit products seized by the European Union are from China, of which footwear products account for 90% of counterfeit goods from China.

The EU side also said that at present, the European Union Customs seized the counterfeit goods of Chinese goods since last year, and Chinese enterprises are also becoming victims of counterfeit goods.

Smeta said she will submit a bill by the end of this year to strengthen the EU customs inspection, and EU market and service commissioner Barne will also introduce other measures.
