Indonesia Labelling Act

The Ministry of trade in Indonesia recently promulgated a labeling law based on PerMenDag no 62/M-DAG/PER/12/2009, which mainly deals with the following non food products sold and sold in the domestic market:


Household appliances, communications and information technology equipment


Building material


Raw materials (spare parts) for motor vehicles


Other products (such as: shoes, Leather goods , Toys Clothing, etc.)


The regulations require that the product labels should be in Indonesia language and include the following information:


(a) product name and / or brand name.


(b) manufacturer's name and address (locally produced products)


(c) importer's name and address (imported products)


(d) country of origin (manufacture)


According to the product categories listed in the appendix, different products are listed. Label Other additional information should be included. For example, clothing should also include:


(E) material type and composition (fiber synthesis)


(f) size


(g) nursing guidelines


For different products, the location of labels is also different, such as products or packaging, or both.


For the products not currently sold in the Indonesia market, the effective date of the regulation is July 2010, and the effective date for the distribution and sale of the existing products is December 2010.


Prior to the entry into force of the regulation, the relevant enterprises shall ensure that they are fully in line with the requirements of the above regulations so as to avoid being punished or recalled.


Before using the label, the enterprise should submit the label information to the Regulatory Committee of the Ministry of trade. The committee will issue a confirmation letter within 5 working days after receiving the label information.
