Charm

A few days ago, the top British Academy of art and design, University of the Arts, Bournemouth, selected 27 outstanding students, led by Professor Anne Chaisty to China, and felt the charm of Chinese culture, art and the market.

In the conference room of the China strategic partnership of Bournemouth University of the Arts, our reporter interviewed Professor Anne Chaisty (hereinafter referred to as AC) to exchange the higher education between China and Britain.

Reporter: can you tell me something about University of the Arts in Bournemouth?

AC: University of the Arts's Arts University College at Bournemouth, referred to as AUCB, was built in 1884. It was formerly known as the Bournemouth and Poole College of art and design. Art, design, media and other majors are among the top 15 higher education institutions of art in Bournemouth.

We implement small class teaching system, create a high-quality professional environment, encourage teachers and students to innovate and open up new fields in the process of learning, research and artistic practice.

Not only has been ranked the highest grade by the British Higher Education Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) for 3 years in a row, but also has been ranked first in Britain for two consecutive years in the student satisfaction survey of art design and media majors, and has been widely recognized by students.

During their studies, there were many opportunities to participate in the design competitions and exhibitions.

AUCB enjoys a high reputation in the creative industry and a high position in the art world. It also provides students with vast space for development and employment opportunities.

Reporter: what are the gains and feelings of taking 27 students to China?

AC: during more than a week, we visited the Great Wall, the Imperial Palace and other places of interest in China. We felt the traditional Chinese culture and understood the inclusiveness of Chinese culture.

We visit the Chinese garment enterprises and the fabric market, and intuitively feel the production technology of Chinese clothing in the production line.

The orchestra of Mr. Yan Jun, Mr. CEO, and Professor Zhong Zhijin, director of fashion design department of Minzu University of China, specially visited Minzu University of China, and talked with dozens of teachers and students in the fashion design department of the school.

Through these activities, students break the boundaries of language, feel the difference between Chinese and British clothing market, and communicate at the level of teaching system.

In my opinion, the basic skills of Chinese clothing majors are very strong, especially in terms of cutting and painting, which are deeply influenced by traditional culture. The advantages of British students are reflected in creativity. If we can learn from each other's advantages in future teaching, it will be better.

Reporter: does this kind of pnational field visits and exchanges in the field of clothing teaching affect the future employment direction of students?

AC: This is a very valuable experience for our students. Through this pnational exchange, it may provide new directions for students' employment. Because the Chinese market is big and fresh about Chinese culture, many students want to come to China after graduation, and work in clothing multinational companies, clothing trade companies, garment enterprises and foreign affairs units in brand planning, clothing marketing, new product development, market management and international clothing buyers.

Reporter: what do you think will be the new trend of the teaching of fashion design in the future?

AC: to achieve seamless connection between students' employment and the needs of garment enterprises.

In teaching, I think there will be many directions for development.

For example: first, cross disciplines, clothing design and marketing management disciplines, teaching and social and market integration, so as to set up targeted courses to cultivate professional clothing marketing and management personnel.

Two, long term cross research, specialization and specialization of curriculum, and phased cross learning plan according to the needs of the market.

Three, develop network interaction, such as two or more students breaking geographical restrictions, learning and communicating through the Internet.

Four, exchange between teachers and students, absorb the international characteristic curriculum content through exchange teaching, pay attention to the excavation of national characteristics, pay attention to cultivating students' good aesthetic feeling, develop students' creative potential, expressive ability and grasp the sense of international information.

Five, expand the field of postgraduate courses, so that students can develop well in the field of clothing and related product development.

The British teaching mode and comprehensive and creative fashion design training enable students to master fashion design skills, clothing production processes and processes. They have the ability to independently handle the design concept to achieve the template production, understand the trend of fashion trends, have predictive and analytical capabilities and international vision.

While grasping the solid technical foundation, we can maximize the creative thinking ability.

Graduates can work in fashion design, product development, marketing and purchasing, fashion retailing, image design and so on in multinational joint ventures and foreign-funded enterprises.

Reporter: what cooperation and development do you want to carry out with the Chinese garment enterprises and the market at this stage?

AC: I look forward to any cooperation, especially the current European students, who are very concerned about China.

Taking into account the globalization of Chinese culture, the market environment in China, the broad inclusiveness of the design environment and the trend of teaching in China, we hope to establish more extensive ties with Chinese institutions, enterprises, brands and markets, and conduct in-depth cooperation.

This is not only to pport talents to Chinese garment enterprises, but also to narrow the distance between China and the British apparel industry.
