Guangdong'S Trade With ASEAN Remained Good In The First Three Quarters.

The Fifth China ASEAN Expo opened yesterday in Nanning, Guangxi. Vice Premier Wang Qishan attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech at the China ASEAN Business and Investment Summit.

Wang Qishan pointed out that strengthening cooperation between China and ASEAN has strong foundation and great potential. The two sides should further deepen cooperation in various fields and jointly promote economic, financial stability and healthy development in the region.

It is understood that the first three quarters of this year, Guangdong's trade with ASEAN has maintained a good momentum of growth.

Guangzhou customs statistics show that in 2008 1~9 months, the volume of import and export trade between Guangdong and ASEAN reached US $46 billion 910 million, an increase of 17% over the same period last year (the same below), an increase of 3.7 percentage points higher than that of Guangdong's foreign trade and import and export, and ASEAN continued to maintain the status of Guangdong's fourth largest trading partner.

Among them, the export volume of US $17 billion 770 million is much higher than that of Guangdong's foreign trade export in the same period of 9.8 percentage points, and imports of US $29 billion 140 million, an increase of 13.5%.

From the point of view of Guangdong's export to ASEAN, Guangdong's export of electromechanical products to ASEAN increased rapidly in 1~9 months, and it has exceeded 10 billion US dollars, reaching 11 billion 490 million US dollars, a rapid growth of 35.9%, accounting for 64.7% of Guangdong's total exports to ASEAN over the same period.

At the same time, the export growth of traditional bulk products to ASEAN was gratifying, including the export of Guangdong furniture to ASEAN, US $350 million, an increase of 88.7%, footwear exports to ASEAN 320 million US dollars, an increase of 60.2%, export of bags and similar containers to ASEAN, US $130 million, a rapid growth of 52.6%, and exports of toys and plastic products to ASEAN by US $100 million and 220 million, respectively, by 54.4% and 22.3% respectively.

From the point of view of imports, Guangdong imports more than half of its high-tech products from ASEAN, and imports of resource products are growing well.

In 1~9 months, Guangdong imported 16 billion 840 million US dollars of new and high technology products from ASEAN, an increase of 13.7%, accounting for 57.8% of the total imports of ASEAN from Guangdong in the same period. Of them, only one imported IC reached US $9 billion 710 million, an increase of 8.3%, accounting for 33.3% of the total imports of ASEAN from Guangdong in the same period.
