Fast Retailing, the parent company of Uniqlo, a Japanese fashion giant, said on Friday that more than 100 of the stores that had been closed due to the outbreak had resumed business in the past week, and 125 are still closed.
At present, UNIQLO has 750 stores in China. Besides, China is also the most important production base for Xun group. 128 of the 242 garment processing plants in China are located in China.
In the Uniqlo U spring summer series released last week, 95 new products were listed, but delayed by the production and logistics of Chinese factories. Some of the new products were put on sale, including a jacket and trousers in the Uniqlo U series operated by French designer Christophe Lemaire. The trousers were on sale in February 24th, and the jacket is expected to be on sale in early March.
This phenomenon has raised concerns among many people that the impact of the outbreak on the supply chain of fast selling group has begun to affect their global business.
XXX said that almost all of their partners' factories have been restored, but not all workers have returned to work, adding: "at present, we have ensured the inventory we need at present."
In a statement, XXX emphasized again their importance to the Chinese market: "although UNIQLO will continue to expand to new markets such as Europe, Greater China and Southeast Asia are still the backbone of our sales growth."
