Textile Trade Opens Up In The US

The economic and trade exchanges between the United States and Central American countries are becoming increasingly close, and textiles and clothing are among them.

According to foreign media reports, the US Department of Commerce textiles and

clothing

Kim Glass, Assistant Vice Minister of the office, recently said that the United States will expand its exports of textiles and clothing in 2014, especially for its trading partners in the Americas.

According to the plan, the export volume of US textiles will increase by 15% to 30 billion US dollars in three years.

At the same time, due to the advantages of geographical location and language communication, American Apparel buyers gradually turn their attention from China and other Asian countries to Central America.

However, Glass also said that how to prevent counterfeit clothing from counterfeiting brands is the most troublesome problem in the US.

US textile exports "step on the accelerator"

The increase of 15% is not only the export goal of the US textile and clothing in the future, but also the growth rate set by the US national export promotion plan for various industries.

To boost American exports and increase employment opportunities.

U.S.A

President Obama announced the "national export revitalization plan" on 16 th last year, the goal is to promote US exports to double in the next 5 years.

To achieve this goal, US exports must rise to $3 trillion and 140 billion from the $1 trillion and 570 billion in 2009 before the end of 2014, which means that the average annual growth of US exports will reach 15%.

"The United States is ready to achieve 15% growth in textile exports in 2014."

Glass said.

She said that according to the growth rate of ~2010 in 2009, the United States has moved towards the goal of "national export revitalization plan".

"The US government is fully supporting the growth of textile and garment manufacturers to help them.

enterprise

The goal of achieving export growth and gaining market share in the international market. "

Data show that in 2010, US textile exports amounted to US $19 billion 700 million, an increase of 18% over the same period last year, which has exceeded the growth rate of the national export plan.

Glass said that in order to maintain the goal of growth in the next three years, the US textile and clothing will extend its export tentacles to Canada and Latin America.

On the other hand, under the framework of several free trade agreements, American yarn and cloth manufacturing enterprises will have more opportunities for development in the Americas.

"The trade fundamentals of these countries are very good, and they will use American textile companies to invest locally in solving their employment problems, especially for those benefiting from the Dominican Republic - Central American Free Trade Agreement (DR-CAFTA)".

Opening up the "new world" of textile trade

At present, with the withdrawal of many American manufacturers from Asian countries with rising production costs and supply chain problems, the procurement contracts signed by the US and Central American countries in textile and clothing industry are also increasing.

"Indeed, there is a great change in Asia from Asia to America."

Glass said.

A director of the apparel business in Central America said many American manufacturers and retailers recently signed new orders for textiles and clothing with the US and China.

In order to deliver on time, suppliers are working hard to increase their capacity.

Glass said that there are many reasons for increasing orders from American countries, such as geographical proximity, rapid listing of products, small communication barriers, trade agreements and trade preferences, and because of the rising cost of raw materials and labor, the purchasing cost of American enterprises in Asia is gradually improving.

"The United States will continue to promote the procurement of Latin American countries and Canada."

Glass said.

In order to make this new trade channel effective, it is in the near future.

U.S.A

The "Americas sourcing summit" held a booth for more than 90 enterprises from the United States, Mexico, Peru, Columbia and other countries. The US Department of commerce also organized enterprises to discuss how to improve local procurement.

In addition, the US Trade Representative Office (USTR) and the Inter American Development Bank (IADB) also set up online purchasing databases and catalogues for DR-CAFTA area to provide comprehensive textile supply chain and supplier information.

"But in Mexico and Latin America, we still have some challenges to face. The biggest problem is forgery. In Mexico, counterfeit clothing sales exceed 50% of the country's clothing sales."

Glass said.

Glass believes that the signing of the free trade agreement (FTA) between the United States and Columbia, Panama and South Korea will help solve this problem.

The United States and important trading partners will increase customs cooperation to prevent counterfeit imports, and avoid counterfeiting manufacturers to enjoy preferential policies.
