Cheongsam Hongkong

Cheongsam is the first choice if Chinese women are chosen to represent clothes. Cheongsam can not only highlight the beauty of Oriental women, but also have Chinese cultural significance.

At present, the exhibition of "Chang Xin Chang Qipao variation" is being held at the Hongkong Museum of history. By introducing 280 cheongsam, more than 400 photos and 9 video programs, the origin and development story of cheongsam are introduced.

Today's cheongsam

Qipao originally refers to the gown of Eight Banners in Qing Dynasty.

Eileen Chang, a serious clodball, wrote the Chinese female dress before the modern cheongsam in "changing clothes": "we can hardly imagine the past world so slow, quiet and neat. Under the rule of the Qing Dynasty for three hundred years, women had no fashion.

People from generation to generation wear the same clothes without getting bored.

From the middle of seventeenth Century to the end of the nineteenth Century, there was a very large sweater and trousers.

The collar is very low, and it's equal to nothing. "

In the 20s of last century, with the change of life, such gowns were improved and became a new style cheongsam.

From 30 to 40s of last century, it was the golden age of cheongsam development. Due to the influence of western dress, cheongsam design became narrow and slender, with high slits on both sides, showing the beauty of Chinese women's posture. Qipao became the most popular dress for Chinese women.

In the uniform regulations promulgated by the then national government, the cheongsam was listed as a ladies' dress, and some of the most famous western fashion designers, such as Paul Poiret of France, have gradually integrated the Chinese style of women's clothing into their own fashion design. The Chinese American actress Huang Liu frost has brought Chinese women's clothing to Hollywood during the period of popularity. The star Poiret Marlene also brought the Chinese theme of the Hollywood movie in the movie "Shanghai express", which was starred in the 1932. Chinese clothing [6.80 4.94%] has naturally become an attraction. Many foreign women in China have begun to try to wear Chinese clothing at that time, all of which have led to the improvement and popularity of Qipao.

Especially in the metropolis of Shanghai at that time, women were dressed in Qipao as fashion, and women's magazines and billboards such as "good friends", "women's pictorial" and so on, all kinds of modern cheongsam style pictures were published. In 1930, when the [0.48 -0.42%] company first launched the national assembly of "Chinese fashion show" against foreign goods, there were two groups of "cheongsam" and "long Qipao" series.

After the 50s of last century, although fewer and fewer people used cheongsam as a daily dress, some famous ladies, such as Song Qingling, a high-ranking official in love with Qipao, attended the diplomatic occasions of state affairs, still used cheongsam as a dress, and strengthened their identity as a symbol of Chinese culture.

At the end of the 60s, with the appearance of a large number of western style garments, cheongsam gradually declined in the field of daily clothing.

Modern cheongsam in Hongkong

When the cheongsam was almost disappeared in the mainland, it changed in different ways in Hongkong and continued to exist in different fields.

At that time, one of the main forms of cheongsam was uniforms, and many schools continued to take cheongsam as their uniforms in accordance with tradition. So the Hongkong people still have a vivid impression of this traditional costume.

Ms. Hua Huina, who founded the school of manners in Hongkong, said: "I started wearing cheongsam from middle school. It is definitely a cheongsam enthusiast. In fact, cheongsam will not be out of date, but also can be worn on different occasions. As long as the body is not out of shape, a cheongsam can definitely wear ten years and eight loads."

Interestingly, beauty pageant in Hongkong is another important way to preserve and promote cheongsam culture.

Since 1973, the annual miss Hongkong election has won the popularity of the cheongsam through TV pmission.

One of the most notable exhibits in the exhibition is the green cheongsam worn by Loletta Chu when he ran for the 1977 miss Hongkong campaign. The video shows that she and many miss Hongkong are wearing cheongsam to wait for the awards, including the 29 beauty Maggie Cheung in the 1983 miss Hongkong contest, which is wearing the Qipao in the movie "the mood for life".

When the representative of Hongkong went abroad to participate in international beauty pageant, cheongsam was also used as national costume.

In 1970, the official brochure of the Hongkong World Expo, which was officially published by the government of Japan, also had a prominent image of Hongkong women wearing cheongsam.

In the daily life, Hongkong women often show their images in cheongsam. In 1960, in Hongkong Wan Chai, Qiu Liang, the photographer, photographed two women wearing cheongsam, the back of the Hongkong woman, the knee length slit cheongsam, the waist tight body, the graceful charm and the imagination.

The most special part of this exhibition is the more than 40 collection of images of many women stars wearing cheongsam pieces in Cantonese and Chinese films. The cheongsam in the light and shadow shows the cheongsam of some famous female stars in Hongkong.

In particular, a group of Qipao images of Hongkong's famous actress Lin Dai in the 50s and 60s of the last century, including two black and white lace cheongsam, which are completely hand-made as compared with today's advanced custom clothes, and the cheongsam of another Hongkong actress Josephine Siao, including the cheongsam made by her mother Cheng Jia He, who won the Golden Globe Award of Hongkong's ten biggest movie stars in 1967, and Zhang Shuping and Nansun Shi's cheongsam and bridesmaid gowns worn by directors in 1996 and Tsui Hark are all designed by Zhang Shuping.

In 2002, the cheongsam was worn by Hong Kong star Michelle Yeoh at the fifty-fifth Cannes Film Festival. The most emotional and touching thing was the two cheongsam worn by the late movie star Anita Mui at the concert in 2002 and 2003. One of them was pegged with beads, and it was different from Hua Mei.
